Go for Kea.
I'm Kea Powell, a senior designer and marketing strategist based in Las Vegas. I've spent 8+ years at the intersection of brand, design and communications, building visual systems, running multi-channel campaigns and helping organizations say the right thing to the right people in a way that actually lands.
Right now I lead all marketing and communications at RTC Bike Share in Las Vegas, managing everything from event graphics and social campaigns to email marketing and community activations. Before that I spent two years at the University of Oregon as Senior Brand Designer and Communications Generalist, directing campaigns and owning brand strategy across a large, complex institution.
I hold an MS in Immersive Media Communication from the University of Oregon, a UX/UI Design certification from the University of Maryland and a BA in Advertising. During my graduate program I served as Design Director for Otter Rock: Beneath the Surface, an augmented reality experience built in partnership with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. The project received a Webby Honoree recognition and was a top-5 finalist at Augmented World Expo, competing against teams behind Pokemon Go.
My graduate research focused on AI bias in design and marketing, specifically how generative AI systems can encode inequity into brand and advertising decisions. I care about that work because it shows up in real choices organizations make every day, not just in academic papers.
Expertise
-
I build brands from the ground up and strengthen ones that already exist. That means visual identity, messaging frameworks, brand guidelines and making sure everything looks and sounds like it came from the same place across every channel.
-
I plan and run campaigns that work across social, email, events and digital without losing momentum or consistency. I own the strategy, the creative and the calendar, and I track what's working.
-
I write and direct content that actually communicates something. From editorial calendars to stakeholder communications to annual reports, I keep the message clear and the quality consistent.
-
I've spent my career helping organizations connect with real people, not just audiences. That means showing up where the community is, listening first and building campaigns that reflect who they actually are.
-
I design for spaces beyond the screen. My graduate work put me in the middle of AR and XR production, where I led visual design for an experience that earned a Webby Honoree recognition and a top-5 finish at Augmented World Expo.
-
My graduate research examined how generative AI systems can encode bias into brand and advertising decisions. I bring that lens into every project where AI touches the creative process.
